Install Zoom Osx

2/12/2022by admin

Zoom has changed its install/update on macOS. Previously, they were running scripts before asking permission or starting the install. That made it easier for non-admin users; if the user didn’t have write access to the shared /Applications folder, Zoom.us would just drop itself in the user’s /Applications folder where it had full. Zoom is a popular video conferencing software that allows you to work remotely from Mac and PC. Many Mac users have trouble installing it however as it’s not on the Mac App Store so here’s how to download and install the Zoom for Mac desktop app.

Installation

  1. Download Visual Studio Code for macOS.
  2. Open the browser's download list and locate the downloaded archive.
  3. Extract the archive contents. Use double-click for some browsers or select the 'magnifying glass' icon with Safari.
  4. Drag Visual Studio Code.app to the Applications folder, making it available in the macOS Launchpad.
  5. Add VS Code to your Dock by right-clicking on the icon to bring up the context menu and choosing Options, Keep in Dock.

Mar 17, 2020 Zoom 3.6 is still compatible with Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.8), but it comes with limited functionality. Follow the steps below to give installation permission: Launch System Preferences from the Apple menu. Zoom Meetings syncs with your calendar system and delivers streamlined enterprise-grade video conferencing from desktop, mobile and dedicated Zoom for Home Devices Powerful meeting security Robust security settings ensure disruption-free meetings. Install pyinstaller (usually pip install -U pyinstaller) Run the command wincompile.bat. It calls just calls pyinstaller and cleans the generated folders and files, leaving only the exe file. All dependencies are bundled within the executable. This allows to make a standalone execution without need for external libraries.

Launching from the command line

You can also run VS Code from the terminal by typing 'code' after adding it to the path:

  • Launch VS Code.
  • Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P) and type 'shell command' to find the Shell Command: Install 'code' command in PATH command.
  • Restart the terminal for the new $PATH value to take effect. You'll be able to type 'code .' in any folder to start editing files in that folder.

Note: If you still have the old code alias in your .bash_profile (or equivalent) from an early VS Code version, remove it and replace it by executing the Shell Command: Install 'code' command in PATH command.

Alternative manual instructions

Instead of running the command above, you can manually add VS Code to your path, to do so run the following commands:

Start a new terminal to pick up your .bash_profile changes.

Note: The leading slash is required to prevent $PATH from expanding during the concatenation. Remove the leading slash if you want to run the export command directly in a terminal.

Install zoom mac brew

Note: Since zsh became the default shell in macOS Catalina, run the following commands to add VS Code to your path:

Touch Bar support

Out of the box VS Code adds actions to navigate in editor history as well as the full Debug tool bar to control the debugger on your Touch Bar:

Mojave privacy protections

After upgrading to macOS Mojave version, you may see dialogs saying 'Visual Studio Code would like to access your {calendar/contacts/photos}.' This is due to the new privacy protections in Mojave and is not specific to VS Code. The same dialogs may be displayed when running other applications as well. The dialog is shown once for each type of personal data and it is fine to choose Don't Allow since VS Code does not need access to those folders. You can read a more detailed explanation in this blog post.

Updates

VS Code ships monthly releases and supports auto-update when a new release is available. If you're prompted by VS Code, accept the newest update and it will get installed (you won't need to do anything else to get the latest bits).

Note: You can disable auto-update if you prefer to update VS Code on your own schedule.

Preferences menu

You can configure VS Code through settings, color themes, and custom keybindings available through the Code > Preferences menu group.

You may see mention of File > Preferences in documentation, which is the Preferences menu group location on Windows and Linux. On a macOS, the Preferences menu group is under Code, not File.

The most common reasons for the error are:

  • Viral activity in the system.
  • Excessive temporary and junk files.
  • Windows registry errors.
  • Damage to system components.

To make it more convenient for you, we have divided the solution to the problem into several steps. Follow them to figure out all the possible reasons, and then install the program.

Step №1: Scan the system

The first step is to check for viruses on your computer and get rid of them if necessary. Any modern antivirus is suitable for this task: Kaspersky, ESET 32 32, etc. If you already have it installed, then run the scan in it.

We will analyze the procedure using the example of Avast, which is distributed free of charge and does an excellent job of protecting your PC.

Instructions:

  1. Go to https://www.avast.com/en-gb/free-antivirus-download#pc.
  2. Click on the «Free Download» button.
  3. Accept the download of the avast_free_antivirus_setup_online.exe file if the browser asks.
  4. Next, open it and wait for the program to initialize.
  5. In the lower-left corner of the new window, uncheck all additional offers.
  6. Click the «Install» button.
  7. The process takes approximately one minute. When it finishes, the antivirus itself will start.
  8. In the new window, click on the «Continue» and «Run first scan» buttons.
  9. Wait for the first scan to finish.
  10. In the main window of the program, click on the «Protection» tile, and then on «Virus Scans».
  11. Activate the «Full Virus Scan» mode.

The program will start scanning the system for virus threats. The speed of the procedure depends on the power of the computer, but on average it takes 10-30 minutes. It is advisable not to use any other programs at this time.

If any dangers are detected, Avast will automatically eliminate them.

Step №2: Clean your PC

Over time, the computer is «clogged» with a huge number of unused files: program cache, temporary data, «tails», etc. Their excess negatively affects the work of Windows. The solution is cleaning. The CCleaner utility is perfect for these purposes.

Instructions for use:

  1. Go to this page.
  2. Save the suggested exe-file and open it. If the download does not start, then click on the marked link:
  3. Open this file.
  4. Make sure the language you want is selected in the upper right corner and click on the «Install» button.
  5. Decline the offer for other programs (CCleaner Browser, etc.) if it appears.
  6. In the completion window, uncheck «View releases notes».
  7. Click «Run CCleaner».
  8. The utility will immediately open, go to the «Custom Clean» tab.
  9. In the subsection «Applications» find the browsers that you are using, and uncheck all items for them. This is how it looks for Firefox and Opera:
  10. Click on the «Analyze» button and wait for the system scan.
  11. Then click on «Run Cleaner».

Let’s move on to the next step.

Step №3: Optimize your registry

During prolonged use of the computer, a lot of unnecessary entries appear in the Windows registry, for example, from uninstalled programs. They also negatively affect the operation of the system as a whole. But with the help of CCleaner, you can get rid of them:

  1. Go to the «Registry» tab.
  2. You do not need to change any options in it, immediately click «Scan for Issues».
  3. When the «Review Selected…» button becomes active, click on it.
  4. Click «Yes» in the new window.
  5. Save a backup copy of the registry in the suggested «Documents» directory. It comes in handy for recovery if something goes wrong (but this almost never happens).
  6. Now click on the «Fix All Selected Issues» button.
  7. Wait for the procedure to complete.
  8. Restart your PC.

If as a result of this procedure the computer starts to work somehow differently, then go to the «Documents» directory, open the previously saved reg-file, click on the «Yes» button, complete the procedure and restart again.

Step №4: Restore Windows Components

It is likely that some of the system files that are responsible for installing programs have been corrupted. You can restore them using the built-in utility. You can run it through the Command Prompt:

  1. In Windows 7 and older versions of Windows, open the Start menu, go to the list of all programs, the «Accessories» section. Find the item «Command Prompt», right-click on it, and select «Run as admin».
  2. In Windows 8 and 10, simultaneously press the keys on the keyboard Win and Q to open search in the Start menu. Enter cmd in the text box. Right-click on the item from the «Best match» block and select «Run as…».

Now type the command into the command line:

sfc /scannow

To execute it, type Enter on the keyboard. Now, wait for the scanning process to finish. And at the end, restart your PC.

Step №5: Install Zoom

It’s time to repeat the installation of the Zoom program to make sure that the problem is solved. Proceed according to the following guide:

Extreme measures

What if the 10003 error still persists? Most likely, its cause lies in serious damage to system data. In this case, there will be problems with other programs, their installation and use. The most effective and radical solution is Windows recovery. As a result, the system will roll back to the previous state when there was no problem. The corresponding option is located in the Control Panel.

You can run it like this:
